We had the cutest little couple attend our church this past Sunday. 

They transferred here to Moody Air Force Base from England, where they’ve been stationed for the last five years!  They just arrived in town on Saturday and were in church Sunday morning.  I was impressed!  They have the cutest little 18 month old girl, Anabell.  She is precious.  She is so friendly and was just letting everyone hold her.  They came over to our house Sunday afternoon for lunch…..we were having a Sunday School class luncheon and even though we’re an “older” crowd, they seemed to enjoy hanging with us!  They even came back to church on Sunday night.

Last night Brooke came to our Ladies Bible Study.  She brought Anabell and she was toddling around to all of us like she’d known us forever!  Towards the end of the Bible study we were sharing some prayer requests.  Brooke spoke up and said she would try to talk without crying…..but she had a prayer request that was very personal to her.  She said that now that they are here in Valdosta, her prayer is that the Lord would send a good Christian young couple to be their friends.  She said that her husband was her best friend….but that they also wanted to find fellowship with another couple that maybe had kid(s) that Anabell could play with.

I wanted to go back and hug her neck and tell her that I would be her friend…..but I’m probably ancient to her!  One of our young married ladies actually did speak up and say that maybe they could get together.  She actually has a little boy that is 13 or 14 months old, I think.  Anyway, it was just so cool to see that maybe the Lord had already answered her prayer.

I thought about how cool it is that what matters to us, matters to God.  REALLY matters!  He cares about us that much.  I thought about the friendships I share with some amazing women in my life and what an awesome gift it is that God has given me in those friendships.  I know that men have great friendships….but I just think there is something special in the bond that women share.  When you find one of those forever friends…….it’s a bond that goes deep and lasts forever.  

There are so many good poems and writings on what a special friendship is all about…..so I won’t try to say what has already been said.  Suffice to say………Girlfriends……YOU ROCK!
