Snow flurries, Birthday Bash and the Hickory Box

I was on the road by 7:30 Saturday morning.  It was only supposed to be a two hour ride to Warner Robbins, but it took a little more time than i anticipated.  Who knew the wind was going to be blowing 25 mph?  The closer i got, the cloudier the sky seemed to be……one of those really grey kind of cloudy days.  Then the blowing rain started.  And then about 20 miles outside of Warner Robbins, i do believe i ran into some snow flurries.  I say “believe” because it hit the windshield so fast and melted, that i couldn’t be sure it was snow.  But it sure seemed like that was what was blowing outside my window.  And when i got to the church, several ladies were talking about the snow flurries they’d experienced on the way to the church.

I made it with about ten minutes to spare which was good, but then i discovered the sound man had only set up a sound system and no CD player, so that was bad.  Then he said he’d go and find one so that was good.  But then he plugged it up and said he needed to find a power strip for it and that was bad.  Then he found a power strip and hooked everything up and that was good, but when we tried to use the microphone it didn’t work and that was bad.  But he kept working on it and finally everything came together and we were ready to start.  Yeah!

The room was decorated with lots of birthday balloons and tables that were decorated to represent each month….you know, like valentine decorations on the February table, umbrellas on the April table….it was really cute.  And you were supposed to sit at the table that represented your birthday month.

They had asked a few of the ladies to share a testimony.  It was such a blessing to hear some of them share their testimony of what God had brought them through.  As i looked around the room i could just tell how much these women loved and supported each other.  When it was my turn to get up and share, there was already such a wonderful sense of the presence of the Lord.  It was a great time together.

As a thank you gift, they presented me with a gift…..it was a three strand pearl bracelet.  You know how much i love pearls!  I was so excited!  I thanked the ladies and told them that whoever picked out the gift did a great job.  So afterwords, a lady came up to me and told me she was glad i liked the gift she picked out.  She said she had a little gift/antique shop and she kept jewelry in it as well as lots of other things.  i asked her if it was on my way home so that i could stop and visit it and she said it was.  She said it was in an antique mall and i just had to ask for the booth called The Hickory Box.

So after i hugged everyone’s neck, i got on the road and started looking for the antique mall.  It was easy to find and her booth was easy to locate cause she’d told me to look for the one that was painted green.  I loved everything in her booth!  She had the coolest stuff.  She had jewelry, purses, candles, teapots, pictures…….just neat stuff.  I settled on some jewelry and then i was about to leave and i just know it was the Lord that told me to “look at the wall”.  And would you believe what was there?

Well, i’m going to see if i can just take a picture and post it tomorrow!!
