Last night was the Valdosta Middle School Band Concert and Awards.  Each band takes the stage at a different time, starting witht the 6th grade band…the beginning band.  These kids have never touched a band instrument until August of 2007.  Some of them had never read music before.  And in eight short months of basic class time, the director guides this group from a bunch of kids blowing into things, to a real band….that makes awesome music!  After the kids performed a couple of their songs, the director gave out some awards.  One of the awards was for “section of the year.”  And guess what section won?  The FRECH HORNS!  (of which, Paige is the section leader!)

Then the out of the whole 6th grade band, the director choose two “Outstanding Muscians” and guess who won?  Well, i guess you know because i told you in the first line, but yes……Paige!  The other student was her good friend, Kaleb. 

We were so excited!  (Guess who won that award her 6th grade year in band, too?   Karlee!  AND guess who won section of the year all three years in middle school…….the flutes!)  Paige has worked hard to learn her french horn and i am just so amazed at how well she’s doing!
