I was reading a blog last week.  Lisa makes hand stamped jewelry and has a website for that, as well as a blog where she talks about her jewelry and family and life and all that stuff.  She seems so friendly and down to earth.  She talks about her joys and her struggles, the ups and downs of life and also posts some great pictures because on top of being a wife, mom and jewelry maker, she loves photography.  So i usually check in on her blog at least every other day.

And then she talked about this….

“we are thrilled to be collaborating with ali edwards again for her word of the year project.

you can read more about the project here.

i love this idea.  and this year we have a super simple, organic design to help you connect with your word every day.”

word-of-the-year

I was totally intrigued about having a “word” for the year so i checked out the link she provided (you should too) and read about a girl that decided to choose one word to be her “word” for the year.

i just loved that idea.  i thought about it for the next few days.  one word.  a word that could be a noun, verb or adjective.  a word that could take you back to a special moment in time, or a word that could motivate and inspire you.

if i chose one word, what would it be?

she told her readers that they would be surprised at how the word would just find them…..so i tried not to think too hard about it and see if a word would just float in the air to me.  i just said a little prayer and told the Lord if He wanted to send me a word for the year, that would be okay with me.  i really didn’t want it to be a word i just made up.  i wanted it to MEAN something.  but i wasn’t sure what.

it was New Year’s Eve and i was leavint work to go to the post office to check the mail.  i thought again about that “one word” thing and all of a sudden it was as if i almost distinctly heard the Lord say, “your word is embrace.”  i mean i didn’t just hear the word “embrace”…i heard Him say, “your word is embrace.”

chills went up and down my spine and He continued to speak…..”embrace the joy in every day, embrace the pain, embrace your family, embrace my will for your life, embrace songwriting…..”

it was like the Spirit of God was breathing new life in me.  i can’t tell you how thankful i am for that moment.

and so i wanted to share it with you.  i wanted to encourage you to find your word for this year.  let God speak into your life this week.

and the cool thing is that you can even have your word hand-stamped on a piece of jewelry at www.lisaleonardonline.com

blessings friends!
